Adam Bałdych Quartet feat. Daniele di Bonaventura
Adam Bałdych, violin virtuoso, excellent composer, leader, leading jazz violinist in Poland and Europe, winner of many rankings and prestigious awards, m.in. ECHO Jazz and Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, awarded by the German music industry. He is permanently associated with the Munich-based ACT Music, for which he has recorded a number of albums, m.in. “The New Tradition”, “Bridges”, “Sacrum Profanum”, “Poetry” (with the participation of trumpeter Paolo Fresu). He also runs his own publishing house Imaginary Music – under his name “Passacaglia” (recorded in a duet with Leszek Możdżer) and “Portraits” were released. He is an extremely open artist, drawing inspiration from early music (works by Hildegard of Bingen, Nicholas of Radom, Tallis, Allegri), nineteenth (Wieniawski) and twentieth century, as well as contemporary music (collaboration with composers Cezary Duchnowski and Paweł Henrich). However, the most important element of his music is the tradition of Polish jazz and native folklore.
Over the years of experience with a variety of material, Adam Bałdych has created his own sublime world, full of space, musical references, understatements, lyricism, calmness and pastel colors. In his playing, based on contrasts, he contrasts the singing cantilena with crazy virtuosity, operates with a wide range of dynamics, uses rich ornaments and various bowing techniques. Playing traditional and Renaissance violins, he achieves a wide range of sounds, a rich color palette and a unique sound. He is a multi-stylistic musician, he feels at ease in both acoustic jazz and fusion aesthetics (performances with Adzik Sendecki and Billy Cobham). Although he most often performs with his Quintet, he feels great in other line-ups – from a duo to chamber, symphony and jazz orchestra (concerts with the NDR Big Band).
Daniele di Bonaventura,
A virtuoso of the bandoneon (also a pianist and cellist), a classically trained composer, conductor and arranger. Along with Paolo Fres and Enrico Rava, he is one of the most acclaimed artists of the Italian music scene. He is inspired by classical, jazz, tango, samba (he recorded an album with Jobim’s songs) and ethnic. He has composed many works for various ensembles (m.in. “Suite per bandoneon e Orchestra”, “Suite Mediterranea”), he writes for film, theatre and dance groups. In his compositions, he exposes melody, most often of a lyrical nature, rhythm and rich, nuanced colours. His instrument blends perfectly into the sound of jazz bands, strings and solo instruments: guitar, trumpet, saxophone. He has performed at all major jazz festivals in Europe, as well as in Brazil and Argentina. He often gives concerts in Poland. He has collaborated and recorded with Italian musicians (m.in. Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Dino Saluzzi), European musicians (including Polish musicians), and world jazz stars: David Murray, Mirosław Vitous, David Liebman, Omar Sosa, Greg Osby, Ira Coleman. He has recorded over 20 original albums.
